The WNPR Artist Mugs Series

This mug, “Listen to the Radio,” is the first mug to be designed for WNPR’s Artists’ Mug Series by illustrator Ryan O'Rourke, a native of Windsor, Connecticut. WNPR will periodically call for submissions from local artists within the listening area to be considered for upcoming designs.

Each mug will be offered for a limited period of time and available only by supporting WNPR.

 About the Artist:

WNPR’s  first artist mug is by Ryan O'Rourke, an illustrator who was born and raised in Windsor, Connecticut. Ryan wanted to illustrate the idea of a community listening to the radio. Often including birds in his artwork, Ryan chose to use a group of owls, each responding to a radio broadcast – or podcast –  in its own way.

Ryan O'Rourke recently relocated to Manchester, New Hampshire. His illustrations have appeared in a wide variety of magazines, newspapers, children's books, and advertisements. His client list includes HarperCollins Publishing, Sterling Publishing, Charlesbridge Publishing,  The Boston Globe, Boston Magazine, Hawaii Home + Remodeling, Hour Detroit, Honolulu Magazine, Dellas Graphics, Houston Press, New Jersey Monthly, Spider Magazine, Cricket Magazine, The Hartford Courant, TIME magazine for kids, New Hampshire Magazine, Vegas 7, Vegas Rated, and WGBH Boston. His work has been recognized by The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, 3x3 Magazine, and The Connecticut Art Director's Club.

Ryan recently wrote and illustrated his first children's book, Bella Lost and Found, for HarperCollins Publishing. First of a two book series, the book will be out in April 2014. Ryan also teaches illustration at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire. View his work at ryanorourke.com
