The New Haven Nose's Tattoo Says Wall-to-Wall Fun

Concord Music Group

Paul Simon's 13th solo studio album, Stranger to Stranger, is out on Friday. It has apparently been gestating for going on four years, and it's full of Harry Partch'smicrotonal instruments like cloud chamber bowls and the chromelodeon. Dean Drummond's zoomoozophome even makes an appearance. At the same time, the album is pretty rockin' and fun.

The Nose has been listening to Stranger to Stranger all week, and we dissect it this hour.

Also: You may have heard about a four-year-old boy and a 17-year-old silverback gorilla named Harambe at the Cincinnati Zoo. And you may have heard or seen or been utterly unable to avoid the ongoing debate the story has sparked. The Nose has been utterly unable to avoid weighing in, perhaps in an aloof, sort of meta way, perhaps directly.

Other topics might include:

GUESTS:

  • Kevin Kane - A musician whose rock career spans 45 years, and who Colin hasn't seen in 40
  • Mercy Quaye - Director of communications for New Haven Public Schools
  • Brian Slattery - Arts editor for the New Haven Independent and producer at WNHH radio
