Between orthodoxy and cultism exists a narrow divide; a proving ground of public opinion where spirited groups vie for entry into the hallowed halls of true religion. Few are more firmly planted in this place than the Jehovah's Witnesses.
But is the derision these door-knocking proselytizers often face fair? And does the public even understand their faith to begin with? This hour, open your mind (and maybe your door?) as we speak with religious scholars and a former Witness to find out.
GUESTS:
- Mark Silk - Director of the Leonard Greenberg Center for the Study of Religion in Public Life and Professor of Religion at Trinity College in Hartford
- Jonathan DeHoyos - Connecticut resident and former member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses
- Dr. Aryeh Shander - Chief of Anesthesiology and specialist in bloodless surgical procedures at Englewood Hospital in New Jersey
- Mark Oppenheimer - Writer of the Beliefs column in The New York Times and an editor-at-large for Tablet, a web magazine about Judaism
