Average prices for July are around 55 cents less than last year at this time.

Gas prices have hit a 12-year low for July according to AAA.

The auto club said abundant fuel supplies and declining crude oil costs have dropped average prices to about 55 cents less than they were a year ago.

Consumers can now find at least one station selling gas for less than $2.00 a gallon in 36 states.

Connecticut is not one of those states, with one of the most of expensive averages in the northeast at $2.36 a gallon.

For now, the price of oil continues to drop due to the potential for steady production and abundant supplies. Many analysts have predicted that oil prices could drop even more later this year, which would likely lead to lower gas prices.

New OTB Facility Under Construction in Stamford

Construction has started in Stamford on the city’s first off-track betting facility.

The 25,000-square-foot BV’s sports bar and restaurant in the downtown area is scheduled to open next spring.

The Connecticut Post reports BV’s is a partnership between former Major League baseball manager and player Bobby Valentine and the New Haven-based Sportech Venues, which is the state’s only off-track betting licensee.

The opening of BV’s will expand the list of Sportech’sOTB establishments in the state to 15.
