Insurance giant Chubb is giving up on its efforts to purchase The Hartford Financial Services Group. In a conference call Wednesday, Chubb chairman and CEO Evan Greenberg responded to a question about the attempted acquisition."The chapter with The Hartford is closed," he said. "We have moved along. Beyond that, I am not going to now engage in talk about past events."
Chubb made multiple offers for The Hartford, increasing the price it was offering along the way. The Hartford employs more than 6,000 people in Connecticut, most of them in the capital city.
