Dr. Raphael Kellman's Microbiome Diet

Repair and boost the bacteria in the gut with the right food, prebiotics and probiotics, and you'll feel better and lose weight. That's the theory of Dr. Raphael Kellman of New York, author of The Microbiome Diet.

If you've read the much talked about New Yorker magazine article on gut bacteria, the new frontier of medicine and weight loss, you might be familiar with research showing that gut bacteria could be the culprit in explaining why some can't lose weight no matter how hard they try, or why others feel sluggish and foggy.

Dr. Kellman reports that he has seen countless patients across the world who have taken his advice, tried the supplements he suggests to heal the gut across four weeks, eating a special diet that includes fermented foods that are especially gut-friendly, such as pickled sauerkraut, Korean kimchi or a little cider vinegar. He says the vast majority of his patients move on to the more liberal stage two of the eating plan and lose significant weight as the gut begins to do its job without inflammation.

Dr. Kellman's book is one in a long series of approaches to health we offer for education purposes, hoping that readers will select the plan that seems right for them.
