Hospitalizations from COVID-19 are surging across the country and here in Connecticut. Just in this state, the number of people hospitalized has more than doubled in the last month. That surge is leading to concern about the capacity at hospitals to treat those with the coronavirus.

Mental Health Resources Available To Residents During Pandemic
Connecticut officials are promoting mental health resources as state residents struggle with issues such as suicidal thoughts and substance abuse during the pandemic.
Gov. Ned Lamont participated in a roundtable Tuesday with mental health care providers. He said he's concerned that mental health problems could increase this month as people feel isolated and COVID-19 cases spike around the holidays.
He said the state recorded 18 more deaths and 40 more hospitalizations on Tuesday and urged people to check in on each other and call the state's 2-1-1 resource line if they need mental health services.

East Haven Mayor With COVID-19 Out Of Hospital
East Haven Mayor Joe Carfora was released from hospital Tuesday after spending the weekend due to COVID-19.
Hearst Connecticut reports Carfora received his positive test result on Thanksgiving day and said he had a new respect for the virus after this experience. He is urging people now more than ever to follow CDC guidelines.

Restaurant Workers Protesting Against Calls To Shut Down Indoor Dining
Restaurant workers are planning a demonstration in front of the governor’s mansion next week to protest the comments of a Yale infectious diseases specialist, who said Monday at the governor’s coronavirus briefing that she feels indoor dining is very risky.
As the Hartford Courant reports, Lamont has so far resisted calls to shut down indoor dining in the face of rising COVID numbers, but restaurant workers say they feel unfairly singled out by the remarks.

Mohegan Sun Offering Testing To The Public
Mohegan Sun is working with Yale New Haven Health to offer drive-thru COVID-19 testing services at the gaming resort.
The Day of New London reports the site opened last week and collecting between 70 and 90 samples a day. Patients are required to schedule an appointment
