Train Strikes Two Pedestrians In Hartford, Killing One

Amtrak Police are investigating a train accident that left one man dead and another injured. Both were hit by an Amtrack train just before noon, police said. No passengers on the train were injured.

In a release, Hartford Police said 18-year-old Nicolas Siciliano of Windsor died after rescue personnel found him in the river below a railroad bridge in Hartford.

They found another pedestrian, whose name was withheld pending notification of family, on "the bridge trestle adjacent to the track." That person, identified as male, was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where he is in "critical condition," police say.

Police are seeking information from any members of the public who witnessed the collision. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Robert Hanson of the Amtrak Police Department at 413-785-4253, or Robert.hanson@amtrak.com.

Siciliano is the second man to be killed by an Amtrak train in Vermont this month. On Nov. 1, Nicholas Widomski of Brattleboro was killed after an Amtrack train hit him as he and another man crossed a bridge in Brattleboro.
