Gov. Ned Lamont announced this week that folks who ignore Connecticut’s mask mandate will be subject to a $100 fine. Also, there are now fines for parties of more than 25 people indoors or more than 100 people outdoors.
The fines are $500 for organizers and $250 for those who attend. The governor’s office says law enforcement, as well as designated local public health and elected officials, are now empowered to collect those fines.
One of those public health officials is Jennifer Kertanis, director of health at the Farmington Valley Health District. She joined Connecticut Public Radio’s All Things Considered to discuss what she knows about her new fining duties.
