Drought Conditions Worsen Across The State

Drought conditions spread across more of northern and eastern Connecticut over the last week. The U.S. Drought Monitor now puts most of New London County, Windham County, Tolland County, and Hartford County in its category of 'Extreme Drought.' The map was released Thursday, but it was based on data collected Tuesday, so it does not include rain that fell in parts of the state during a wind storm late yesterday. In southwestern Connecticut the state Department of Public Health yesterday asked residents of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford and Westport to limit their water usage by reducing how much they water their lawns. The state says that will save supplies for drinking water.
