Visuals EditorJoe Amon is a Visuals Editor with Connecticut Public’s Visuals department. As a photojournalist he has covered breaking news, sports and long form storytelling across the United States.
He received his associates’ degree in 1989 and took his first job as a photojournalist with the Valley Independent in Monessen, Pennsylvania. Since, he has worked at the Free Lance Star, the South Florida Sun Sentinel, and The Denver Post.
Joe was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Prize for International Photography for his project, “Aids Orphans,” which chronicled the life and ultimately the death of Victoria Lynn Ward, an eighteen year old survivor, inspiration and outcast who died of complications from AIDS. Joe was a key contributor of the 2013 The Denver Post staff Pulitzer in Breaking News Reporting for team coverage of the Aurora theater shooting.
