Who needs a hot toddy when Connecticut breweries are making such great winter brews? Who is crafting your favorite beer in the state right now? Like many restaurants, local breweries have found ways to bring their beers to you safely. Let’s celebrate them. This week on Seasoned, we’re live with the master brewer from Black Hog Brewing in Oxford and New Haven, Tyler Jones. Tyler talks with us about the brewing process, IPAs, and more. “Lady Lager” brewer Alisa Bowens-Mercado, owner of Rhythm Brewing Co. in New Haven, shares a bit of her beer journey as well. She’s a pioneer in the state.

Join the conversation on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and email at seasoned@ctpublic.org.

We reached out to Will Siss – the writer of the “Beer Snob” column for the Waterbury Republican-American, and the host of the podcast “It Starts With Beer” and asked about the local beers he’s excited about right now. His picks are. . .

In the west, Clocktown Brewing in Thomaston makes a rich porter called Quittin’ Time that he loves.

In the southwest, Lock City has a 10-percent ABV coffee stout that sounds appropriately warming, called Subliminal Verses.

To the north, out of Suffield, Broad Brook has a Doppelbock called Chewbockanator he wants to try.

And of course he’s a fan of, Rhythm Brewing Co‘s new BGM Vanilla Porter.
