School board meetings have become political battlegrounds in Connecticut and across the U.S. This hour, we look at the power and politics of school boards.

The complaint did not directly accuse Ganim of any wrongdoing, but listed him in the complaint. Previous reporting from CT Public showed the primary race was close. Ganim won by just 251 votes, prevailing over Gomes with absentee ballots.

Gino DiGiovanni, Jr., currently facing federal charges for trespassing at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, was declared the winner of the GOP mayoral primary in Derby on Friday.

Incumbent Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim defeated challenger John Gomes, his former aide, for the Democratic primary, with results announced early Wednesday morning.

The victory puts Arulampalam, 37, on course to become the next mayor of the heavily Democratic city.

Incumbent Mayor Justin Elicker handily won New Haven’s Democratic primary Tuesday night, defeating Liam Brennan, a former assistant U.S. attorney.

Party members unanimously endorsed the incumbent mayor for another four-year term.
